OLG RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF CANADA’S BEST EMPLOYERS FOUR YEARS IN A ROW

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is thrilled to have been selected for Forbes’ prestigious list of Canada’s Best Employers for the fourth consecutive year. This year, OLG moved up 27 spots on the list of companies recognized.

“It is an honour to be recognized on Forbes’ list of top employers in Canada again this year — and it is incredibly gratifying to know that so many of our team members would recommend OLG as a great place to work,” said Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. “The many ways we play as one team to deliver on our commitment to Ontario is what makes me most proud to be an OLGer. Our employees care for Ontario communities, dedicating their hearts and minds to their work, every single day — and it shows!”

Canada’s Best Employers 2025 were identified through an independent survey of over 40,000 Canada based employees working for companies employing at least 500 people within Canada. The study primarily focused on personal evaluations given by the employees themselves, but also included public evaluations given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry.

“What makes this recognition so special is that it is employee driven and that is a powerful testament to the pride OLGers have in the work we do together,” said Esther Zdolec, OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture. “I am proud to work alongside all OLGers as we continue to build a workplace that is inclusive, innovative and engaging — a place where different perspectives and backgrounds are truly valued and celebrated.”

GIFT RESPONSIBLY: LOTTERY TICKETS AREN’T CHILD’S PLAY

TORONTO, ON – While sharing gifts with family and friends is a wonderful tradition during the holiday season, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) would like to take this opportunity to again remind parents and adults that all lottery products, including INSTANT tickets, are a form of gambling and are not suitable gifts for children and minors.

While lottery products make great gift ideas for a variety of special occasions, these products are for adults only. It’s vital that parents and adults understand the proven risks and impacts associated with underage gambling. If you decide to buy lottery gifts for friends and family, please ensure the recipients are at least 18 years of age and older.

There is extensive free information and various resources available dealing with youth and gambling:

  • The YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program (YGAP) is a free service funded by Ontario Ministry of Health to raise awareness among youth of gambling risks, how to make informed decisions, and healthy, active lifestyles.
  • The Gambling, Gaming and Technology Use (GGTU) program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) supports addictions and mental health service providers through continuing professional development, digital tools and resources, and facilitating knowledge mobilization activities related to problem gambling, video gaming, and internet addiction.
  • The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), an independent non-profit organization focused on the prevention of problem gambling in Canada and worldwide, with information on Teens or Young Adults and gambling.

Also, OLG’s award winning PlaySmart.ca program can help parents understand the facts when it comes to games, and concepts like odds and randomness. There’s also a “Finding Help” section with links to the support resources above and more.

OLG has supported this Holiday Campaign from the National Council of Problem Gambling and the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) for many years, which encourages lotteries in Canada, the United States and around the world to promote the important message that lottery products are not suitable for children at any time.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“As it has for decades in Ontario, land-based gaming continues to serve as a source of good local jobs and generates vital economic activity in the communities that host gaming sites,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “From helping build neighbourhood parks to supporting community programs, proceeds received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG help make municipalities all across the province better places to live and work.”

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.

Over the past eight years, service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. Since 2016, these investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and additional gaming expansions and non-gaming amenities.

OLG is a crown agency that contributes to a better Ontario by delivering great entertainment experiences for our customers. Acting in a socially responsible way, OLG conducts and manages land-based gaming facilities; the sale of province-wide lottery games; Internet gaming; and the delivery of bingo and other electronic gaming products at Charitable Gaming Centres. OLG and Team Canada Launch Official Partnership Ahead of Paris 2024

TORONTO – July 15, 2024 – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is excited to announce its first-ever official partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee – becoming the Official Ontario Lottery Partner of Team Canada for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Ontario is ready to cheer on Team Canada athletes as they compete in Paris this summer,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “This new partnership is showcasing one of the many ways OLG’s support makes a difference to people and communities across the province.”

“We are thrilled to welcome OLG to Team Canada,” said Jacqueline Ryan, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of the Canadian Olympic Committee and CEO of the Canadian Olympic Foundation. “Ontario has such a rich sporting history and OLG has long been a supporter of sport and amateur athletes. We know this support has made a profound impact on athletes across the province, whether they’re engaged in sport at the grassroots level or pursuing their Olympic dreams.”

“We are so pleased to be entering a new partnership with OLG and welcoming them into the Canadian Paralympic community,” said Karen O’Neill, CEO, Canadian Paralympic Committee. “We know support for sport and athletes has been important to OLG for many years, and we are excited to work with them to continue to champion Ontario’s Para athletes and inclusive sport across Ontario.”

As momentum builds towards the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, OLG is also shining a spotlight on its players, who have helped support amateur athletes in Ontario by playing with OLG. The new “Sponsored by You” campaign reinforces that when you play with OLG, you support Ontario athletes.

Since 2006, OLG and the Ontario government have supported high-performance amateur athletes through the Quest for Gold athlete assistance program. The program has provided direct financial support to thousands of amateur athletes, enhancing their ability to train by offsetting the costs of training and living expenses.

“Many people don’t realize 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested into Ontario, and that we have a longstanding history of supporting amateur athletes,” said Maxine Chapman, VP Brand & Marketing Officer at OLG. “OLG’s ability to give back to communities is only possible thanks to our players, so we wanted to use this opportunity to recognize and celebrate them.”

OLG’s campaign features Team Canada athletes Andre De Grasse, Penny Oleksiak, Maggie Mac Neil, Jillian Weir and other Ontario athletes and Para athletes who have received funding from Ontario’s Quest for Gold program.

“Training for the Olympics takes a lot of preparation – physically, mentally and financially – and it’s not something you can succeed at alone,” said six-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse. “Having programs like Quest for Gold to help and knowing your community is supporting you makes all the difference, especially when you’re competing on the world stage.”

The success of the Quest for Gold program shows in the numbers – in the last four Olympic cycles, over 90 per cent of Ontario medal winners had received Quest for Gold funding during their career.

“The Quest for Gold program showcases our government’s continued efforts to enable Ontario athletes to achieve their full potential at the highest levels of competition,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “We are proud to join with the OLG, our partners across the sport sector and all Ontarians in wishing our Olympic and Paralympic athletes the best of luck in Paris!”

To make players feel like sponsors, OLG is bringing a traveling “Sponsored by You” Portrait Studio to several Ontario communities this summer. Players will have the opportunity to take a personalized portrait to show their support for Ontario’s amateur athletes and will also have a chance to win great prizes — including Team Canada prize packs*.

Plus if you buy a lottery ticket online at OLG.ca between July 15 and August 12, 2024, you can enter for a chance to win a trip to watch Team Canada at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games**!

OLG RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF CANADA’S BEST EMPLOYERS FOR DIVERSITY FOR A SECOND YEAR

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is thrilled to once again be selected for Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2024.

“OLG values, fosters and reflects Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as essential elements of our culture and we’re committed to creating a space where employees can be themselves and use their perspectives and skills to benefit the people and the Province of Ontario,” said Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. “We are honoured to again earn a place on Forbes’ prestigious list and we’re humbled to know that so many of our employees see OLG as a workplace that encourages and celebrates diversity.”

This is the second year in a row OLG was listed on Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity List, placing 69th out of 200 companies this year.

“This latest recognition clearly demonstrates that we are making progress on our commitment to build a culture of inclusion where employees are valued and celebrated for who they are,” said Esther Zdolec, OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture. “Our strength is in our collective differences and together we are more creative, innovative and inclusive.”

Forbes and Statista Inc. selected Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity 2024 through an independent survey involving a sample of approximately 40,000 professionals across all industry sectors. Companies eligible for evaluation employed at least 500 people within Canada. The evaluation was based on employee and public recommendations, as well as diversity key performance indicators.
