Update On Outstanding $70 Million Lotto Max Prize From June 28, 2022 Draw

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) awareness campaign about the unclaimed $70 million jackpot from the Tuesday, June 28, 2022, LOTTO MAX draw has generated unprecedented media attention in the hopes of jogging the ticket owner’s memory so that this person or group would come forward with the ticket.

As of the deadline of 10:30 pm June 28, 2023, the physical $70 million winning ticket, which was sold at a lottery retailer in Scarborough, was not validated at an OLG lottery terminal. If an attempt is made to validate a lottery ticket such as LOTTO MAX or LOTTO 6/49 past the one-year expiry date, the lottery terminal message to the customer will advise the ticket has expired.

However, the awareness campaign resulted in more than 1100 calls to OLG’s Customer Care Centre with people claiming to have lost the ticket.  OLG is committed to always paying the right prize to rightful owner of a winning ticket. Due to the high volume of lost ticket claims, OLG’s dedicated team of lottery investigators need to take the time necessary to review all of these potential claims made before the expiry deadline. After that process is complete, we will provide a further update.

If the LOTTO MAX ticket remains unclaimed, the $70 million prize will be returned to LOTTO MAX players through future bonus games or promotions.

To avoid unclaimed lottery prizes, OLG asks lottery players to:

  • Sign their ticket as soon as it purchased at a retail location;
  • Keep the ticket in a safe and memorable location until draw time;
  • Check the ticket as soon as the draw is complete; or
  • Purchase a lottery ticket on OLG.ca and you will be notified by email if your ticket has won a prize.

OLG offers players several easy ways to check lottery tickets by using the OLG App, by using the self-serve ticket checker at lottery retail locations or asking the retailer to check it through the lottery terminal.

Information about other unclaimed tickets can be found on the OLG.ca Unclaimed Tickets page.

OLG UNVEILS FULLY REFURBISHED BASKETBALL COURT IN HONOUR OF LOCAL INDIGENOUS PLAYER

Emily Mandamin at OLG court openingTORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation (OLG) has worked with Iskatewizaagegan #39 – Independent First Nation to completely refurbish their local basketball court based in Northwestern Ontario.

The new court was unveiled on June 23, 2023 during a community event featuring Emily Mandamin, the first person from Iskatewizaagegan #39 – Independent First Nation to earn a college basketball scholarship to a U.S. college. The court is a special space for Emily, as it’s where she taught herself how to play basketball.

“OLG is honoured to shine a light on Emily’s incredible journey and is proud to advance her legacy of creating safe spaces for play and recreation,” says Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. “OLG celebrates Emily and Emily’s community as we aspire to build new pathways of understanding and respect while advancing the principles of Truth and Reconciliation.”

The court features a mural by Indigenous artist Alicia Kejick, a local, self-taught artist whose art is inspired by honouring her culture and way of life. The mural is based on “Ziigwan” (zee-gwan) which represents the season of spring and is the beginning of a new year in Anishinaabe culture. A time for new beginnings, energy, lessons, and possibilities.

During the community event, the NBA hosted a basketball clinic on the new court led by its clinicians and retired WNBA Legend, Tammy Sutton-Brown.

“Many young Indigenous athletes have the skill but lack the resources and opportunity to succeed. This court was a safe place for me growing up, and now it can be a place of possibilities for others,” says Emily Mandamin. “As I accomplish my goals as an athlete, it’s important for me to share my success. Thanks to OLG, my community now has a basketball court that not only is new and functional, but it’s a court that we can truly call our own.”

In the spring of 2023, OLG partnered with NBA to sponsor the first WNBA  Canada Game presented by Tangerine and celebrate Emily Mandamin’s success as the first college basketball scholarship recipient from Iskatewizaagegan #39 – Independent First Nation. Watch her story, Dream Chaser.
