OLG TO MAKE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ ATTEMPT

TORONTO, ON – As an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is making the celebration one for the record books and giving back to the soccer community while doing it. This May, OLG will officially attempt a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Game of Human Foosball.

  • When: Saturday, May 23, 2026, Opening Ceremonies begin at 10 a.m.
  • Where: Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus West, 19 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, Etobicoke, ON

Members of the public are invited to watch the record-setting attempt, which will be held during Doors Open Toronto.

Human foosball is just what it sounds like: a life-sized version of the classic table game. Players must hold onto the bar in front of them while kicking the ball to teammates as they try to score on the opponent’s net. To set the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title, 250 participants will face off in a custom-built 150’x68′ arena. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be in attendance to confirm the achievement.

“This summer, we’ll be welcoming fans from around the world to experience the very best of soccer here in Ontario,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt is the perfect way to kick off the excitement and show the world just how passionate Ontarians are about the beautiful game.”

“Soccer is about teamwork, energy and shared experience, and a human foosball world-record attempt brings those elements to life in a fun and unforgettable way,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “As the province prepares to welcome the world, events like this help build excitement for the tournament and showcase Ontario’s passion for the game.”

The event also celebrates OLG’s partnerships with the City of Toronto’s Soccer for All Legacy program and Ontario Soccer to help grow and support local soccer in communities across the province.  Thanks to OLG players, these organizations will be able to create more opportunities for people to play, learn and connect through sport, including training grassroots coaches and match officials to serve the growing passion for soccer across the province.

“Giving back to Ontario is at the heart of everything we do, and that’s all thanks to our players,” said Duncan Hannay, President and CEO of OLG. “We know that soccer can have such a positive impact on our communities, so we’re incredibly grateful to our players for helping build a brighter future for the beautiful game in our province.”

As an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, OLG will also be bringing unforgettable experiences to FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto at the Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway on select dates between June 11 and July 19, 2026.

OLG ISSUES FOURTH QUARTER GAMING REVENUE PAYMENTS TO MUNICIPAL PARTNERS

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to make fourth quarter (January 1 – March 31) payments totaling $27,218,085 to 29 communities that host gaming facilities.

During OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026), these 29 communities have received $140,572,102.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“OLG shares revenues with host municipalities to help them invest in the local programs, services and infrastructure that communities rely on,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “These payments are part of our government’s commitment to strengthen municipalities and local economies, reinvesting revenues from local gaming sites to protect the services and priorities that matter most.”

Since 1994, host communities have received almost $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.

Over the past nine years, service providers have invested more than $2.9 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. These investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, two large-scale resort developments and expansions, many gaming floor expansions and new non-gaming amenities.

THE NEW LOTTO MAX IS HERE

TORONTO  – Your favourite big‑dream lottery just got a major glow-up!  The new LOTTO MAX has arrived – same way to play, but now with more chances to win, and a jaw‑dropping jackpot that can soar up to $90 million.

For the Tuesday, April 14th draw, LOTTO MAX players could score a life‑changing $25 million jackpot, with 25 new MAXPLUS prizes of $100,000 each!

Bigger Jackpots – Up to $90 million:

Because players love big jackpots, the LOTTO MAX jackpot cap is increasing from $80 million to $90 million – a record-setting amount for a Canadian lottery! Players will still have the chance to win MAXMILLIONS prizes when the jackpot reaches or exceeds $50 million.

New $100,000 MAXPLUS Prizes for Every Draw:

One of the most exciting enhancements is the introduction of the new $100,000 prizes at every draw, based on the jackpot amount. For example, when the jackpot is $10 million, 10 additional prizes of $100,000 will be drawn. At $20 million, there will be 20 additional $100,000 prizes – and so on, up to 90 additional $100,000 prizes when the jackpot hits $90 million.

Better Overall Odds of Winning Any Prize:

With these enhancements the overall odds of winning any LOTTO MAX prize are better than ever. The overall odds of winning any prize will improve from approximately 1 in 7 to 1 in 5.8, while the main Jackpot odds will change from approximately 1 in 33, 294,800 per play to 1 in 33,446,140 per play.

Each $6 play will now include four selections of seven numbers ranging from 1 to 52. That’s one more selection than before.

To support these enhancements, the price of a LOTTO MAX play will change from $5 to $6. This small change helps us continue to deliver record-breaking jackpots, now up to $90 million, while adding new $100,000 prizes to every draw of the game that Canadian lottery players love. This is the first price increase in 17 years since the game’s inception in 2009.
