Steven, a college professor of mechanical engineering, said he saw a LOTTO 6/49 commercial that caught his attention and inspired him to purchase his ticket.

“When I checked my email and discovered I won big, I screamed, ‘Is this for real?’ It took a moment for it to sink in,” he recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings.

The 61-year-old shared the incredible news with his wife, son, and daughter, all of whom were in disbelief. “Everyone was happy for us, and very surprised,” Steven shared. “My twin brother was in shock.”

After years of teaching and mentoring, Steven said this win comes at exactly the right moment.

“This win is life-altering,” he said with a smile.

He plans to put his windfall toward a comfortable retirement for himself and his wife. He also looks forward to helping his kids, traveling to Scotland, and purchasing a hot tub.

“I’ve spent my life preparing tomorrow’s leaders in my field and after giving so much to the community, I’m happy to start the next chapter of my life,” he concluded.
