TORONTO, ON – As part of its ongoing commitment to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) expects to fill approximately 150 roles in the community over the next three years, strengthening its local workforce and creating new opportunities for job seekers.

For more than 30 years, OLG has been a part of Sault Ste. Marie's success story. Home to OLG's corporate head office and one of the city’s largest employers, OLG also supports hundreds of additional local jobs through its extended employment network of partners, vendors and retailers, including Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, Pollard Banknote Limited and Canadian Bank Note Company Limited. In addition, OLG has contributed to community initiatives and events that help strengthen the region.

“Sault Ste. Marie has been an important part of OLG for more than three decades, and we're committed to its future,” said Duncan Hannay, President and CEO of OLG. “As we look ahead, we're opening doors for local talent with plans to hire 150 people in the Soo over the next few years, while continuing to invest in partnerships that help strengthen the community. We expect this to result in a 12 per cent increase in local staffing at OLG.”

OLG continues to find meaningful ways to connect with local job seekers through career fairs, networking events and targeted recruitment activities. The anticipated opportunities span a range of functions across OLG, offering career paths for experienced professionals, recent graduates and individuals looking to build skills in areas such as operations, product management and corporate services.

Local partnerships are another important part of OLG’s commitment to employment in the community. Earlier this year, OLG announced an agreement with Algoma University to expand opportunities for student learning through work-integrated learning, cooperative education and career development. Since 2021, OLG’s partnership with PLATO has supported software testing training, internships with OLG and future careers in technology for Indigenous people.

Beyond direct employment, OLG's impact extends throughout the community. Since 1999, OLG has contributed more than $39 million through Municipality Contribution Agreement payments to the City of Sault Ste. Marie as a gaming site host community, which has supported local initiatives from bolstering firefighter and police services to building vital infrastructure like the Sault Area Hospital. In addition, OLG has provided more than $2.5 million in local event sponsorships since 2002 to support events like Bon Soo, Gathering at the Rapids Pow Wow and ROTARYFEST.
