TORONTO, ON – Javier M. of North York is celebrating after winning a $2 million top prize in the ONTARIO 49 draw on September 5, 2026.

The 44-year-old said he’s been playing the lottery with OLG weekly for the past seven years. He enjoys ONTARIO 49, LOTTO 6/49, and LOTTO MAX, and is thrilled to be celebrating his first big win.

“I was grabbing some snacks at the gas station during my work break and decided to check the tickets in my pocket. When I saw all the zeros, my mind started spinning. I thought I was hallucinating,” Javier shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his windfall. “I kept thinking, ‘There’s no way this is actually happening!’”

Javier, who works as a roofer, said his first instinct was to call his wife and tell her about the win, but he decided it was a conversation worth having face-to-face. “I waited until I got home, and let me tell you, that felt like the longest shift of my life,” he recalled with a laugh. “I had this huge secret and could barely contain my excitement. When I finally told my wife, her eyes widened; she was absolutely stunned. We were both so excited and happy. We could hardly believe it!”

With his winnings, Javier plans to pay some bills.

Reflecting on his win, he said, “It’s an amazing feeling, but I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I always had hope that my turn would come, and now that it has, I’m completely shocked. Nothing prepares you for the moment it actually happens.”

ONTARIO 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Combination Play is available in five-, seven-, eight- and nine-number selections. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m. Visit the ONTARIO 49 page on OLG.ca for more information.
