TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Paul D. and Louise D. of Brampton. They matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the August 29, 2026 ONTARIO 49 draw to win $1 million!

Paul, 64, and Louise, 67, said they've been purchasing lottery tickets with OLG for over 30 years and this is their first major win.

The couple, who have been married for 36 years and have two children, said they enjoy playing the lottery together because it makes it more fun. Even though the couple won on ENCORE, in which the computer picks the numbers, Louise said “I like to use my late mother’s numbers on our lottery tickets. My mother always said that one day we would win and we did!”

While at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings, Paul shared the story about discovering the big win. “Louise is usually the one to check our tickets, but on this particular day she was getting her hair done so I decided to check it myself,” he explained. “I thought we won $1,000 at first. When Louise checked it again on her phone, she started screaming and said some words you probably don’t want to hear! I was so confused. I thought, ‘Why is she screaming over $1,000?’ That's when she told me we actually won $1 million! I couldn't believe I missed all those zeroes!”

“We were both shocked and stunned for dear life,” Louise added.

Paul and Louise called their son to share the news about their big win. “He was groggy and half asleep but once we told him he was fully awake and excited,” Louise beamed.

With their windfall, Paul and Louise plan to save, invest and travel to the Caribbean.

“It’s so much excitement, disbelief, and gratitude all happening at once. It's an incredible feeling. I don’t think it will fully sink in for a while. We are both completely in awe,” Louise concluded.

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There are two ENCORE draws every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Hurontario Street in Brampton.
