Downtown businesses are backing the possibility of a casino in North Bay, specifically in the city's core. The Downtown Improvement Area Board of Management came out Wednesday in support a gaming facility in the city, suggesting it would economically benefit businesses. DIA chairman Bob Alger said the group consulted with other communities and business improvement associations, including those in Orillia, Thunder Bay and Niagara Falls. He said a majority of board members agreed the positive aspects outweigh the negatives, and if there's going to be a casino in the city, it should be located in the downtown.als is expected to be issued in the fall.
