THE BEER STORE TO SELL LOTTERY PRODUCTS IN SELECT LOCATIONS

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to announce the launch of lottery sales at The Beer Store beginning September 2024.

The Beer Store is piloting self-serve lottery in eight of its stores, with a broader rollout to begin later this fall. Self-serve lottery offers customers the convenience of purchasing national and regional draw-based lottery games, as well as a wide variety of INSTANT tickets, using debit and credit cards (including Google Wallet and Apple Pay).

While self-serve lottery offers customers ease of use and a large selection of games, prizes will continue to be redeemed at any full-service OLG lottery retailer or at OLG.CA.

“Since 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested into communities across the province, expanding lottery into new retail locations sustains OLG’s efforts to give back to the people of Ontario,” said Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. “We look forward to working with The Beer Store, bringing more convenience to our players, while driving them into our vast network of lottery retailers to redeem their prizes.”

“We’re pleased to enter a partnership with OLG and look forward to offering our customers something new on their next shopping trip,” said Roy Benin, President of The Beer Store. “These self-serve kiosks allow us to jointly maintain our commitment to social responsibility while offering access to lottery in select retail stores.”

As a trusted leader in gaming entertainment, OLG is committed to making player health a top priority. The Beer Store’s extensive training on servicing their age-restricted customers supports OLG’s policy of restricting play to those 18 years of age or older. Tailored responsible gambling messaging is also fully integrated into the self-serve terminals.

Every play with OLG is a winning one because all profits are reinvested into communities. Last fiscal year, OLG delivered $2.4 billion back to Ontario, with the sale of lottery tickets making up almost half of that amount.
