I have been asked a lot about the Belleville-Quinte West casino debate, but first, I think we have to talk about what got us to this point. The McGuinty government has a problem. It has a $15.3 billion dollar deficit, a debt rapidly approaching $300 billion and $10 billion is spent annually just to service that debt. The Ontario government’s problem is not a revenue problem, it is a spending problem. Nevertheless, the government has decided, rather than making tough decisions at Queen’s Park, it has to find new and creative ways to get more of your money. Read article
