OLG RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF CANADA’S BEST EMPLOYERS FOR DIVERSITY

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) is thrilled to have been selected for Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2023

“We know that our strength is in our collective differences and that every OLGer brings value to the team,” said Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. “We’re humbled to know that so many of our employees see OLG as a workplace that encourages and celebrates diversity — and we’re honoured to be recognized on Forbes prestigious list.”

OLG ranked 70 out of 150 companies on the Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity List 2023.

This latest recognition further demonstrates OLG’s progress on its commitment to build a culture of inclusion where employee differences are valued, celebrated and seen as strengths that can only benefit our organization.

In January 2023, OLG conducted its third Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Employee Census, which helps OLG better understand how employees experience its culture, programs and policies. The organization saw an 11 per cent improvement in its inclusion score compared to 2021, placing OLG well above industry benchmarks.

In addition, in 2022, Diversio — a company whose mission is to help employers be more inclusive — rated OLG as one of the Top 20 Most Innovative Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion businesses.

One hundred per cent of OLG’s profits are invested in Ontario, benefiting people and communities across the province. OLG’s success depends on its ability to create an environment where employees are engaged and always feel welcomed and accepted. In fiscal 2022-23, OLG delivered its highest ever annual Net Profit to the Province, which goes to support government priorities and helps make life better for Ontarians.

“We want our employees to have the space to be themselves and feel empowered to use their imaginations and skills to benefit the people and the communities of Ontario,” said Esther Zdolec, OLG’s Senior Vice President of People and Culture. “We see EDI as a pillar of our success — because together we are more creative, innovative and inclusive.”

In January 2022 and 2023, OLG was also selected for Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers, placing in the top 20 per cent of companies on the list in 2022 and the top 15 per cent in 2023.

Forbes and Statista Inc. selected the Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity 2023 through an independent survey of employees working for companies with more than 500 employees in Canada.

OLG is a crown agency that contributes to a better Ontario by delivering great entertainment experiences for our customers. Acting in a socially responsible way, OLG conducts and manages land-based gaming facilities; the sale of province-wide lottery games; Internet gaming; and the delivery of bingo and other electronic gaming products at Charitable Gaming Centres. OLG is also helping support the horse racing industry in Ontario. Since 1975, OLG has provided nearly $57 billion to the people and Province of Ontario to support key government priorities like health care; the treatment and prevention of problem gambling; and support for amateur athletes. Each year profits from OLG's operations also support host communities, Ontario First Nations, lottery retailers and local charities across the province.
