OLG ANNOUNCES SELECTED PROPONENT FOR NIAGARA FALLS ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has selected Niagara Falls Entertainment Partners to design, build, finance and maintain a new Niagara Falls Entertainment Centre (NFEC).
This is another important step as OLG continues to partner with the private sector to enhance the entertainment experience for customers.
On July 11, 2017, OLG announced that Niagara Falls Entertainment Partners was the preferred proponent for the project, pending the close of financial and commercial transactions. Those transactions were completed today.
The entertainment centre will be located adjacent to Fallsview Casino Resort, next to the Hilton Hotel and connected to the casino by an enclosed pedestrian walkway.
The project is expected to result in an initial capital investment of over $130 million and create more than 800 direct jobs associated with the construction and ongoing maintenance and operations of the facility.
The NFEC is a critical part of the modernization of the Niagara casinos. The facility will accommodate larger concerts, shows and attractions and is expected to draw more visitors to the City of Niagara Falls and OLG’s Niagara casinos.
OLG expects the new entertainment centre to open in mid-2019. It will be operated by the service provider OLG selects for the Niagara Gaming Bundle.
OLG is the Ontario government agency that delivers gaming entertainment in a socially responsible manner. OLG conducts and manages gaming facilities, the sale of province-wide lottery games, PlayOLG Internet gaming, the delivery of bingo and other electronic gaming products at Charitable Gaming Centres and is helping to build a more sustainable horse racing industry in Ontario. Since 1975, OLG has provided nearly $44 billion to the Province and the people of Ontario. These payments to the province support the operation of hospitals, amateur sport through the Quest for Gold program, local and provincial charities and problem gambling prevention, treatment and research.
All for Here – 100 per cent of OLG’s proceeds are invested in Ontario
