TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Helen Ackerland and Mary (Lise) Hayward of Sturgeon Falls. They matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the February 6, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw to win $1 million!

Helen and Lise, a mother daughter duo, said they've been playing LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 together for about 15 years and they play their own numbers that are significant to them. Lise discovered their win while checking their ticket on OLG.ca. "I thought something was wrong. I even pulled out a magnifying glass to see the numbers on the ticket," she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect their winnings. "My heart was pounding!"

"I was still in my pajamas when my mom called," Helen laughed. "She said I had to go to the store to get a printout of the winning numbers because we may have won big. I asked her how big, and she said, '$1 million!' We feel so blessed."

They plan to put their windfall toward a house and a vehicle. "This win will be enjoyed by many in our family between the kids, foster kids and grandchildren. We are so grateful for this prize."

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac's on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls.
