Casino development clears first hurdle in Kenora

City council has voted to support a casino development in Kenora, so long as it’s a “destination.” A resolution to continue discussions with the province regarding a casino development passed with a 5-2 vote on Thursday, provided the 300-slot gambling venue is connected to a hotel and conference centre. Council instructed city staff to begin searching for suitable real estate and it intends to begin lobbying the province to determine funding availability to absorb the anticipated social cost.
