Toronto, ON – Ida Chow of Thunder Bay can realize her dreams after winning a $500,000 MAXMILLIONS prize in the December 19, 2025 LOTTO MAX draw.

Ida, 61, said she’s been playing the lottery since she came to Canada from Hong Kong in 1992. Over the years, LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 have become part of her weekly routine.

“I bought my ticket before Christmas and left it on the kitchen table. I usually don’t check my tickets for several weeks,” the retiree explained while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her windfall. “I checked this ticket using the OLG app and couldn’t believe it!”

After discovering her big win, Ida shared the news with her sister over the phone. “I never thought I’d win a prize like this,” she said with a smile.

With her newfound winnings, travel is top of mind. “I want to visit my family in Hong Kong and celebrate with them,” she explained. “I’d also like to move to Toronto to be with my friends.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Arthur Street East in Thunder Bay.
