SUDBURY DISTRICT RESIDENTS CELEBRATE $1 MILLION ENCORE WIN
TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Leslie and Katherine (Kathy) Taylor of Lively and Randal and Ginette Mulligan of McKerrow. The group matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the October 25, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw to win $1 million!
Leslie and his wife, Kathy, have been playing the lottery with their close friends, Randal and his wife, Ginette, for 20 years. Kathy and Ginette have been best friends since childhood. They’ve been there for each other through life’s ups and downs, but nothing could have prepared them for their next adventure: winning and sharing $1 million!
Each week, Leslie picks up the group’s LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 tickets, choosing numbers based on significant birthdays and anniversaries. “I was at home scanning our ticket on the OLG app. When I saw that we had won $1 million, I nearly had a heart attack and narrowly avoided spilling my coffee,” Leslie recalled, while the group visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their windfall. “I shouted so loudly that Kathy heard the commotion and came running downstairs to see what had happened.”
“When Leslie showed me how much we’d won, I was so shocked,” said Kathy. “All I could do was stand there and stare at him in disbelief.”
“I was half asleep when Leslie called to share the news,” Randal said. “As soon as he told me we’d won, I was wide awake,” he laughed. “I couldn’t believe it! I was sure Leslie was joking around, since he loves a good prank,” Ginette giggled. “This win is a blessing, and I’m thrilled for Leslie and Kathy,” she beamed.
The group agreed that their win came at a great time. “It’s one heck of an early Christmas present!” Leslie chuckled. “It’s a great bonus, especially around the holidays,” Randal added.
Both couples look forward to traveling and plan to share their winnings with their children.
ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There are two ENCORE draws every day.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Regional Road 24 in Lively.
