The McGuinty government’s plan to expand the operations of its agency responsible for lotteries and gambling has them, unusually, on the wrong side of the safety police. The Liberals, after all, are the party that has banned smoking in cars carrying children, that has made it an offence for a young person to drive if too many other young people are along for the ride, that has outlawed certain breeds of dog and that has effectively made the dandelion the provincial flower over dubious concerns about herbicide risk.
