TORONTO, ON – Michael Clarkson of Gilmour won “Ontario’s jackpot” – $388,352 in the June 8, 2024 LOTTARIO draw.

Michael, a retired father and grandfather, has been playing the lottery with OLG for 40 years. His favourite game is LOTTARIO and he makes sure to get his tickets weekly, using OLG’s Quick Pick feature to select his numbers.

“I went into the gas station to check my tickets after a dentist appointment,” Michael recalled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall. “I scanned the last ticket and kept saying, ‘No way! It can’t be!’ I checked it again to be sure and then went to the store clerk to have the ticket validated. When the lottery terminal shut down, the clerk whispered to me, ‘I think you won big.’ and I just froze.”

Michael’s wife had the same reaction as he did. “I went home to show my wife the ticket and she too kept saying, ‘No way,’” he laughed. “Even today, my heart is still pounding and my hands are sweating. It doesn’t feel real,” Michael concluded.

With his winnings, Michael plans to invest, share with family, and treat himself.

LOTTARIO launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 11:59 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw. Visit the LOTTARIO page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at St. Ola’s Station on St. Ola Road in Gilmour.
