Toronto, ON – Shyrl and Shawn James of Whitby can “find their possible” after winning a LOTTO 6/49 prize worth $1 million in the Gold Ball Draw on October 23, 2024.

Shryl and Shawn, married parents and grandparents, have been playing the lottery together for more than 30 years. When playing LOTTO 6/49, they use OLG’s Quick Pick feature to make their selections. They’re now celebrating their first big win and the thrill of becoming millionaires!

“I usually check the winning numbers online, and I didn’t think we’d won anything on this particular ticket,” said Shryl, while she and Shawn visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their windfall. “I then scanned our ticket on the OLG app and thought we’d won $1,000. I checked it three more times before handing it the ticket to Shawn. He looked closely and said, ‘That’s not $1,000, that’s $1 million!’”

“In that moment, the happy tears started to flow,” Shryl smiled. “We called our sons to let them know the good news. It was certainly not a phone call they were expecting!” she laughed. “The excitement was similar to the feeling of having your firstborn child.”

Shryl and Shawn look forward to traveling and enjoying their winnings.
