KINGSTON RESIDENT DISCOVERS $75 MILLION LOTTO MAX JACKPOT WIN IN DRIVE-THRU LINE

TORONTO, ON David Hatt of Kingston is still in disbelief that a simple decision to buy a LOTTO MAX ticket has made him a multi-millionaire. Not only is he Ontario’s newest multi-millionaire, but he’s also the biggest LOTTO MAX winner in Ontario lottery history and the second biggest in Canadian lottery history!

The married father of two realized he had the winning ticket for the $75 million LOTTO MAX jackpot from the August 19, 2025 draw while in a drive-thru line waiting for his morning coffee. David shared his life-changing story during his OLG Winner Celebration in Toronto. “The night before the draw, as I was passing the gas station where I usually get my lottery tickets, something told me to buy a ticket, so I got a LOTTO MAX Quick Pick and didn’t think any more about it. The next morning, as I was in line at a drive-thru waiting for my coffee, I remembered to check the ticket. I checked it using the OLG App and thought I had won $75,000 at first - I thought that was awesome! It wasn’t until I took a closer look that I noticed there were a lot more zeros!”

David couldn’t wait to share the news with his wife. “I went home right away and said, ‘I need you to sit down.’ I showed her the screen on the app, and she asked in disbelief, ‘Is that $75 million?’ I loudly said ‘YES!’”

In that moment, David and his wife, who are so in sync with each other and their values, immediately acknowledged that this win was an opportunity to help so many people. They both want this windfall to have a generational impact. “Of course, we want to support our family, but we also want to give back to our community and assist the most vulnerable in our area. It’s not about helping one charity, but about reaching as many people as possible for the longest amount of time.”

Over the past few weeks since discovering he was holding a LOTTO MAX ticket worth $75 million, David has taken time to research, plan, learn, and reflect on what matters most to him and his family. “My kids are helping me to keep my head in the clouds with them as they dream about their future,” he laughed. David has also assembled a team of professionals to help him navigate this life-changing event and ensure that he and his family can achieve their dreams.

So, what’s on David’s bucket list? At the top, he wants to get a dream home for his family. “We’ve always had a dream of having that special property or that special house and it was just that, a dream. My wife and I always talk about it, but it wasn’t affordable before. Now that dream will become a reality.”

Travel will also keep David and his family busy. “My wife and I want to see many places in Europe, but not just the main cities. We really want to explore the small towns, countrysides, and rural areas. Those experiences will be really special for us.” While David always puts others before himself, he admitted that he will treat himself to a new set of golf clubs so he can enjoy some golf adventures with his children.

David is incredibly grateful for this win and isn’t sure when the reality of having $75 million in his bank account will sink in. “We’re going to be pinching ourselves for years to come!” he concluded.

This winning LOTTO MAX ticket was purchased at Pioneer/Snack Express on Bath Road in Kingston.
