BRAMPTON RESIDENT WINS $2 MILLION WITH ONTARIO 49

TORONTO, ON April Dang of Brampton is celebrating after winning an ONTARIO 49 top prize worth $2 million in the December 28, 2024 draw.

April, a self-described dog mom, has been a regular lottery player with OLG for the past five years. She typically plays ONTARIO 49 but occasionally picks up a LOTTO MAX or LOTTO 6/49 ticket. April chooses her own numbers, based on significant dates in her life. She is now delighted to share the news of her first big win!

“It was late at night when I thought to check my ONTARIO 49 ticket. I checked the winning numbers on the OLG app and matched each one to my ticket. I was sure my eyes were playing tricks on me,” April recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her windfall. “I even refreshed the screen to make sure it was true. I couldn’t register what was happening. I was shocked!”

“In disbelief, I asked my mom to double-check my ticket. When she confirmed all the winning numbers matched, she was so excited, and I was left stunned,” April smiled. “We didn’t sleep all night. I kept rechecking my ticket on the OLG app while trying to come up with a game plan.”

“It still doesn’t feel real. It’s like my brain can’t comprehend what’s happening,” April laughed. “It’s joyful and surreal! I’ve been trying to take this journey one step at a time and haven’t made any decisions yet about what comes next. I’d like to pay off my parents’ mortgage and arrange for some renovations, but I will settle into this win before making any additional plans,” she concluded.

ONTARIO 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Combination Play is available in five-, seven-, eight- and nine-number selections. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m. Visit the ONTARIO 49 page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lucky Lotto Centre on City Centre Drive in Mississauga.
