TORONTO, ON – David and Cheryl Barry of Hamilton are celebrating after winning an ONTARIO 49 top prize worth $2 million in the October 9, 2024 draw.

David and Cheryl, who both work in the tech industry, have been regular lottery players with OLG for a few years. They typically play ONTARIO 49, LOTTO 6/49, and LOTTO MAX. The married couple’s Quick Pick ticket led to their first big win!

During his regular morning routine, David thought to check their ticket. “I had to scan it on the OLG app a few times to process what I was seeing,” he recounted, while he and Cheryl visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their windfall. “I so happy and immediately felt at peace. I was excited to share the news with Cheryl.”

“I went upstairs and showed her how much we had won,” David said. At first, she thought we’d won $2,000, but as she looked closer, I could see how shocked she was.”

“We were ecstatic and decided to go to the store together to have our ticket validated right away. I danced all the way there,” Cheryl laughed. “This has been a wonderful experience. We’re happy and excited about what this means for our future. It won’t change who we are, but it will change how we enjoy our retirement when we get there,” Cheryl smiled.

David and Cheryl plan to seek financial advice and invest for their retirement. They look forward to enjoying travel and fun-filled adventures in the future.
