Toronto, ON – Myrna and Joseph Robinson of Nepean have that “6/49 feeling” after winning the Guaranteed $1 Million Prize in the February 27, 2021 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
The married couple say they are regular lottery players. "We play the same numbers twice a week, but we won the big prize on a set of numbers from a Free Play ticket," they shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up their winnings.
Myrna discovered her big win while checking her tickets at the store. "The cashier thought there was something wrong with the lottery terminal when the bells went off and it stopped working," she laughed. All lottery terminals freeze when a ticket worth $5,000 or more is validated. After an OLG representative called the store to speak to her about the winning ticket, she said "I was in disbelief!"
Myrna went home to tell Joseph about their big win, and he too was in shock and thought she was pulling a prank on him, saying, "You are too late for April Fools!"
The retired couple plan to save their win for some travelling when it is safe to do so. "We plan to take it easy for now," they concluded.
In accordance with government-issued lockdown measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, OLG is currently limiting the number of in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to only those that require a face-to-face interview. The health and safety of our customers and employees remains our top priority and OLG looks forward to providing future updates on the availability of in-person prize claims.
