$1 TURNS INTO $100,000: OTTAWA RESIDENT ‘SITTING ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN’ AFTER $100,000 WITH ENCORE

TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Richard Sutton of Ottawa. Richard matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the July 31, 2020 DAILY KENO (EVENING) draw to win $100,000!

Richard, a 57-year-old educator and coach, says he’s a regular player of LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY KENO choosing numbers that represent family birthdays. “But I don’t normally play ENCORE,” he admitted, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque.

Richard said he hesitated before adding ENCORE to his ticket. “I said to the cashier, ‘Why? I never win,’ but agreed to it anyway. I’m very happy I did!” he laughed.

Richard shared the good news with his daughter. “She told me I deserved it,” he smiled.

Aside from saving some winnings, Richard plans to help his daughter with her education costs while she pursues her studies to become a doctor. “I’m so proud of her. I’ll also save some to treat myself when the time is right.”

“I feel like I’m sitting on top of a mountain because something so wonderful has been given to me. I’m so grateful for this – the timing couldn’t be more perfect,” he concluded.

OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by-appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Players should contact the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options or to schedule an appointment.

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at J.J.’s Market on Laurier Avenue in Ottawa.
